Ep. 22 – Politics and Theatre
***DONATE TO OUR PATREON TO HELP US PAY FOR REHEARSAL SPACES THIS SUMMER! WE’LL BE PERFORMING OUR MUSICAL AT THE HUDSON GUILD THEATRE IN NYC JULY 24TH, 28TH, and 30TH***
Last week we ended by talking about the musical, Hadestown. Today we’re going to focus on the politics of that show, and how the meaning of one song in particular has changed with the last election. We also go into the different political jokes we put into our show, Great Frontier, and discuss how they may have changed since we first wrote them during the Obama administration.
The song at the end is “The Story of Me” from Kevin and Patrick’s new musical, Great Frontier: A Poorly Researched Musical About Lewis and Clark. Tickets are available now for the NYC premier at the NY Theatre Festival’s Summerfest on July 24th, 28th, and 30th.
